What types of surgical services do you provide for dogs?
When your dog needs a surgical procedure, we offer advanced surgical care, recovery, and pain management for your pet. Our veterinarians can perform soft tissue surgery as well as orthopedic surgery. Surgical procedures provided at our hospital include:
- Spay/neuter (Traditional or laparoscopic services available upon request)
- Growth removal or tumour biopsy
- Laceration repair
- Urinary bladder surgery and stone removal
- Abdominal exploratory
- Oral surgery
- Cesarean surgery
- Orthopedic surgery
- Emergency surgery
Your pet will be screened prior to surgery to ensure that they are healthy enough to undergo surgery. We administer anesthesia after having performed blood tests to confirm that the patient is a healthy candidate for surgery. Our veterinarians can also use these test results to develop a pain management technique that is tailored for your pet, and screen for any pre-existing conditions that could impact the surgery.
What happens to my pet during surgery?
All pets undergoing surgery will have their blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate and blood oxygen levels monitored by a certified veterinary technician to keep them safe and comfortable during the entire process. On the day of surgery, our staff will also ensure that we have the most up-to-date contact information when you drop off your pet and will keep you informed about their condition and progress.
Your pet’s care and comfort is our top priority. We will utilize various pain management techniques to aid in your pet’s recovery. The post-operative pain management plan will include pain medication to reduce discomfort and encourage a speedy recovery. This plan will include at-home pain medication to keep them as comfortable as possible. A veterinary technician will provide you with instructions on how to manage your pet’s post-operative care at home. We are more than happy to provide you with more information and answer all of your questions or concerns.
