Flea and Tick Control

Fleas and ticks are parasites that are very small. Protect your cat with a parasite prevention plan.

We love our pets, but we don’t love the little critters that might be sharing them. Not only are they unappealing but they can also cause health problems for our pets and their people. This is why it is so important to keep our pets free from fleas and ticks by using preventative products.

How do I know if my cat has fleas?

Itchy and scratchy? Fleas are often, but not always the culprit if your cat is scratching during the warmer months of the year. Fleas move fast, and they may be hard to find but you can often see the digested blood specs in their fur. Ticks are becoming a much more common problem in Ontario and we are seeing pets regularly with ticks. If you are unsure, book your cat for a skin examination with the veterinarian. Some cats develop allergic reactions to fleas making treatment and relief more complex.

How can I prevent flea and tick infestations on my cat?

Prevention is definitely simpler than treating an infestation. We carry several products specifically designed for cats and we will be happy to make a recommendation based on your cats’ lifestyle. A topical application of a preventive product on your cats skin can be a simple effective way of preventing a problem. If you are already experiencing an infestation, please call us for advice.
